Thank you, SCOTUS.

My babies aren’t going to remember when they couldn’t get married to whoever they wanted.

      • We have our nephew’s grad party tomorrow, then we’ll be at the hotel (downtown, near the park) in the evening. Let us know if you’re around then and maybe we can meet up! Otherwise, we’ll be sitting near 5th and Henn for the parade. We’d love to see you all!

  1. Been alternating between glee and the weepies all day myself, and now I am just grinning all over to think about Aglet and Rhizome growing up in the world that opened up this morning.

I am old enough to remember when interracial marriage was illegal in some states. I am old enough to remember when non-whites could not legally vote in all 50 states. I am old enough to remember when women had few effective ways to prevent pregnancy, and no legal means to end a pregnancy. And for most of my life in most of this country, around one-fifth of my friends and family could not legally wed the person they loved. It is slightly – ok, more than slightly – mind-boggling to think about how far we’ve come in a bit less than six decades. Still a long, long ways to go in way too many areas, but wow. I sure did not expect to see this day happen in my lifetime.
